Alternators by Model, Engine and Build Date
Build dates split the part
Two vehicles of the same model can need different alternators. On the Frontier, 23100-9BV1A is listed up to August 2022 and 23100-9BV1B from August 2023. The Rogue with the 1.5 liter turbo uses 2310A-6RC1A up to December 2023 and 2310A-6RC2A after that. The Sentra moved from 23100-6LB0A to 23100-6LX0A in September 2021.
Examples by model
23100-6CA0A is listed for the 2.5 liter Altima, 23100-9UA3B for the 2018 to 2024 Murano, and 23100-6SA0B for the 2022 to 2025 Pathfinder. The 2025 and 2026 Armada uses 23100-7JA0A, and the Z with the 3.0 liter uses 23100-6GP0B. For the 2025 and 2026 Kicks there is 23100-7LG0A.
Older trucks
The page still covers older engines. 23100-9BM0A is listed for the 2017 to 2019 Frontier with the 4.0 liter and flex fuel, and 2310M-4S100RW is a new alternator for the 3.3 liter Frontier and Xterra. For a truck that tows or runs extra accessories, a factory unit matched to the engine is the safe choice, because it was sized for that bracket and pulley.
Belts, brackets and bolts
Behind the alternators the page lists 30 serpentine belts, 16 accessory drive belts, 29 bracket bolts and 14 brackets, plus the alternator bolts and adjusting brackets. A cracked or glazed belt can squeal and slip, which looks like a charging problem, so check it before you replace the alternator and swap it if it is worn.
Signs of a failing alternator
A battery light on the dash, lights that dim at idle, a battery that keeps going flat or a whining noise from the front of the engine are common signs. Cold weather is hard on a weak charging system, so it is worth testing the battery and alternator before winter. A weak battery can make a good alternator look bad, so check the battery and its cables for corrosion as well. Related pages: brakes, fuel filters, roof racks and spark plugs.
