TITAN XD diesel filters

The 5.0 liter diesel uses two filters, one on the frame and one at the engine, and each is sold as a full assembly or as an element. 16400-EZ40B is the frame mounted assembly and 16403-EZ40A the frame mounted fuel water separator element. At the engine, 16400-EZ41A is the assembly and 16403-EZ41A the element. Filter housing 16401-EZ40A and filter head adapter 15238-EZ40A are listed as well.

Why the diesel filters matter

Diesel injection systems are sensitive to water and dirt, which is why the frame filter separates water before fuel reaches the engine. Change the elements on the schedule in your owner's manual, and sooner if the water in fuel warning comes on or the truck has taken a bad tank of fuel.

In-line filters for older models

Older gas engines used an in-line filter that is easy to reach. 16400-72L15 is listed for the four cylinder Altima, Pick-up and Pathfinder up to February 1996, and 16400-53J10 for the four cylinder Altima, Stanza, Pick-up and Pathfinder. 16400-0W005 covers the six cylinder Pick-up and Pathfinder from May 1996, plus the Frontier and Xterra. 16400-Q0805 is listed for the 200SX, 300ZX and Maxima.

Tank strainers

On engines with the filter in the tank, the strainer is the part that catches debris. 16400-2Y922 is listed for the Maxima and the 1.8 liter Sentra and 200SX without the clean air package, and A6400-2Y505 is the version for clean air vehicles. Fuel strainer seals are here too.
